How Often Should I Vacuum Clean My Carpets?

We had a client ask us this question this morning. She had wood floors throughout the house, however, all three bedrooms had Berber carpeting.

The short answer, as often as necessary. The professional answer...weekly.

Before vacumming survey the room and pick up clothes, papers, and large debris off the floor, as this may clog the vacuum. Better safe than sorry.

If you are cleaning the whole house, start on the upper floors and work your way down. This way, you are certain that dirt and dust particulates will not be moved from one area to another. Curtains and upholstery should be vacuumed first before you move on to the carpeting.

When vacuuming each room, make it a point to hit under the beds, couches and dressers as far as you can. Since it is impractical to move each piece of furniture every time you clean, it is more acceptable if you try to reach as far under as possible when cleaning those areas.

As professionals, we can point out. Vacuum cleaning your carpet can be a great workout. A way to improve your fitness level.
